EPUB3 Finalized Format Announced at Frankfurt Book Fair

EPUB3 At the Frankfurt Book Fair the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) announced the final version of of a major revision to EPUB, the global standard interchange and delivery format for eBooks and other digital publications. The IDPF membership elevated EPUB 3.0 to a final IDPF Recommended Specification.

Some of the tributes to Steve Jobs mentioned an interview he did over 25 years ago, when he was turning 30 years old. He referred to an old Hindu saying:

"For the first 30 years of your life, you make your habits. For the last 30 years of your life, your habits make you."

Apple designs hardware blended with software that addresses this belief.

What does iOS5 and Readability mean for eBooks?

Readability started out as an Arc90 Lab experiment to improve the reading experience when browsing the web. The code was later embedded into Apple's Safari 5 browser (as the Safari Reader feature), the Amazon Kindle and popular iPad applications like Flipboard and Reeder.

Readability changes the font size and strips away the craptacular nature of a lot of today's web pages, with the end result looking like a well-formatted eBook.
